Douglas House
This semi-detached property in north-west London was remodelled by architect Rise Design Studio, with CBC London carrying out the construction work.
This innovative renovation has seen this property install solar panels while making the space airtight to allow for a new mechanical heat recovery system (MVHR). There is now a rain water harvesting system, a live woodier fireplace with flu, natural clay plaster walls and bespoke joinery created by CBC throughout the house.
A unique feature of the project is the installation of Douglas Fir timber, ordered from high-end supplier Dinesen on a 54 week lead time. The timber was used to create the majority of the flooring with the bespoke timber doorframes and lining also built by CBC.
The external sliding timber door and sliding tracks system in Canadian cedar were also handmade and installed by CBC.
We enjoyed working with CBC on a full refurbishment of our in-need-of-modernisation 1930’s home. It is always daunting choosing contractors to undertake a large scale project like this, but Iljaz’s (who runs CBC) calmness and confidence settled our home renovation jitters.
Ultimately we were extremely pleased with the work. The craftsmanship exceeded our expectations and the level of attention to detail was outstanding.
Iljaz’s commitment to the project can be seen throughout our home, with us enjoying many of the ideas he brought to the table. He has an eye for precision and excellent technical knowledge.
He brought to the site a nice team of contractors who were polite, respectful and approachable. Collectively his team was highly solutions orientated, never short of ideas of how to manage the twists and turns that a project of this size brings.
CBC has a strong, happy, co-operative relationship with the architects, which contributed to the effectiveness of the collaborative process. We were able to achieve the finishes and atmospheres within the spaces that we wanted, thanks to the vision and hard work of CBC.
We feel like there is a bit of all of us -CBC, the architects and our family that made our home such a special place to live. It was clear to see the pride we all felt in what we had created together.
